Topcats Racing are excited to announce that they have entered an all Japanese driver squad for the Britcar Silverstone 24hr race on the 2-3rd October.
Details were finalised three weeks ago and the team can now confirm the driver line-up for the Marcos Mantis in the GT3 category.
All but one of the drivers has raced internationally. Toru Nakano, who will be driving in the squad is the only one who is resident in the UK and was responsible for negotiating with the team to confirm the entry.
Always ready for a challenge, Topcats Racing will be working very closely with a fifth member of the team, Hideki Seto, translator for three of the drivers who do not speak any English. A management system will be set up within radio communications to ensure that all the information gets to the drivers and pit crew…….in the right language!

2006 Japan Le Mans Challenge GT2 Class Winner
Profile: Masashi is doctor and races more seriously than a hobby. He usually races MX5 and AE86 in Okayama in Japan. The highlight in his career is when he won 2006 Japan Le Mans Challenge GT2 class on his International racing debut. He also competed in the 2010 Dubai 24hrs with Japanese Team, 930 Rush. An overall sports-man, Masashi is perhaps the most self assured racer in the team. He also is the mood maker of the team.
Lives: Ashiya Japan
2009-2010 MX5 Championship
Profile: Ryu is doctor, and is a regular MX5 racer in Okayama international circuit. He proved himself a quick learner by improving his racing results quite rapidly in his relatively short racing career. Ryu has never raced outside Japan, so this is going to be his first race abroad, his first visit to the UK and his first ever 24 hr race. Following Topcats Racing team manager Warren’s advice, he is trying to upset his girlfriend by driving the Silverstone GP circuit on Playstation every night!
Lives: Suzuka, Japan
1999-2010 Formula 3 / Japanese GT / Japan Le Mans Challenge GT2 class winner
1998 Winner Formula Ford in Japan
Profile:Yosuke has been one of the most successful racers in Japan. He has raced in Japanese Formula Ford, Formula 3, GT and other sports cars. His cool and calm character never makes us think of that he is a racing driver, but once he sits behind the wheel, he really is an aggressive and talented racer. Yosuke also has a degree on mechanical engineering, so you often see him setting-up racing cars at Japanese circuits and at his garage. He led a Japanese racing team as a leading driver in 2010 Dubai 24hrs race and was instrumental in ensuring the team finished the race.
Lives: Watford, UK
1997- Japanese Formula 4 / Formula Toyota
1996 UK Formula Vauxhall championship
1995 Japanese Formula Ford / Suzuka 1000km
Profile: Toru has lived in the UK since 2002 and has been looking after a number of Japanese racers competing in the UK as well as running his own export business. He also is an ex-junior single-seater racer and like Yosuke, is an ex-wannabe formula 1 racer. He also does ARDS instructing work at Silverstone in his spare time. 2010 Britcar 24hrs will be his first car race since his Japanese Formula Toyota outing in 1999.
The team are looking forward to having a truly international atmosphere in the pit garage.
Oh, and we’ll be keeping our drinks bar closed until after the race (Hideki)!
You will be able to follow the race live on your PC (If you can’t actually be there in person!). Details of how to do this will be available shortly before the race.
