Topcats reveal 3 pronged attack in Britcar 2011

Class 2 Marcos Mantis GTNext Saturday (26th March) marks the start of the newly named Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship.  Approved as the official British Endurance Championship by the MSA.  

The inaugural race of the season kicks off at the world famous Silverstone GP circuit where spectators will be treated to a mouthwatering array of GT Endurance supercars all vying to bag the first win of 2011.

Topcats Racing is making its final preparations in what will be their busiest race season so far.

Mercer/Smith Ginetta G50

The team have confirmed a stellar driver line up in 3 cars competing in Class 2 and 3 of the championship this year.

Mick Mercer and son in law, Gary Smith will get to try out their newly upgraded Ginetta for the first time when they test on Friday (25th March).  They will be running in Class 3.

Sam Head, who confirmed his seat with the team at the end of 2010 will be joined by Kyle Tilley, who, after talks with other teams, sealed a deal with Topcats Racing last week. Together they will compete for the Class 2 Trophy in the team’s formidable Marcos Mantis GT car.

The Team

Owen O’Neill returns for a second full season with the team in the Class 3 Marcos. O’Neill will capitalise on last season’s experiences and go for the Class 3 title in earnest this year. He will be partnered by the adaptable Henry Fletcher, who has put in some fine performances in both Marcos GT cars as well as the team’s Mosler MT900GT3 owned by Andrew Beaumont.

The race starts at 3.00pm in a 3 hour endurance finishing at 6.00pm.

Subscribers are welcome to join the team for a preview of the race cars and and a cup of tea in our hospitality area, where you will have a great view of the action in the pitlane and garage.
