As purveyors of racing, automotive high performance and adrenalin fuelled customer happiness, we have some imminent dates to appeal to most of our fellow petrolhead’s needs.
GT Cup – 13/14th August
This weekend the team will be competing at Donington Park in the GT Cup with drivers, Neil Huggins and Jeff Wyatt in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo car. If the prospect of free entry and a base and refreshments with the team is more tempting than a Saturday Tesco shop or Sunday lunch washing up then email email@example.com for details.
Pistonheads Sunday Service – 28th August
On Saturday, 28th August, we will be hosting Pistonheads Sunday Service for the 2nd year in a row.
Bacon rolls, burgers and snacks will be available to purchase along with free tea, coffee and refreshments.
As usual, Pistonheads only announce the date and venue 1-2 weeks prior so we will let you know when it goes live as you MUST add your name to the list on the thread. If you aren’t already, subscribe to Pistonheads to enter. It’s completely free.
Get your name down quickly though. Last year, all 300 places were filled within 2 days!
We will have many of our own and special customer cars on display as well as the infamous 753BHP TVR Sagaris Lingenfelter LS9, further enhanced in its armoury with a newly installed line lock and some super sticky Mickey Thompson’s, ready to attack and reign victorious (fingers crossed) at the Brighton Speed Trials the following weekend, which inevitably leads us to……
Brighton Speed Trials – 3rd September
Come and support us and cheer on owner driver, Paul ‘Blackie’ Black for this historic event. Last time we entered the car in 2014 we could have topped the leader board going by our terminal speed….if only we could have gotten her cleanly off the line. This time, with the right equipment, we could nail it!

Preparing for the weekend
We are pleased to confirm that 2014 GT Cup Champion, Jeff Wyatt, will be co-driving with Neil Huggins at Silverstone this weekend for the GT Cup. It will be the first time Wyatt steps into a Lamborghini Gallardo but hopes to get some miles under his belt in pre race testing on Friday. It’s not the first time Wyatt has raced with the team. He has had several successful outings with the team in their TVR Tuscan and Marcos Mantis GT cars. The refinement of the 4WD Gallardo will take some getting used in contrast to the rawness of the British marques. He did however, win the championship in a BMW GT car and was on great form at the last round of GT Cup in a Porsche GT3 Cup car.
Two sprint races on Saturday and a 50 minute ‘pitstop’ race on Sunday we hope will provide the duo with an opportunity to win the spoils for the weekend.
Regular race updates will be available on our Facebook page: Topcatsracing
Please set your TV reminders to Motors TV for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo at Paul Ricard in France this weekend! Topcats are there to try and win the Gallardo class after narrowly missing out on a win at Silverstone in May with driver Neil Huggins. It will be a tougher challenge this time around though being on foreign soil and a circuit that neither team or driver have been to before. Sat. 20th: 11.45am and 1.15pm Sun.21st: 9.10am and 2.00pm
Topcats Racing and driver Neil Huggins narrowly missed out on a double win this weekend after Saturdays first race saw them make a fantastic climb up the leader board into P2 and chasing the lead car before the Lamborghini Super Trofeo cut out with just half a lap to the end of the race.
With two separate qualifying sessions for both races, Huggins really clicked with his new car in 2nd qualifying to secure P2 on the grid for race two.
After a less than perfect getaway from the green light in Sundays 50 minute Lamborghini Super Trofeo race and a cautious opening couple of laps because of unfamiliarity with cold tyres, Neil Huggins dropped to 5th in class with a big 100 metre gap to make up. As soon as Huggins was confident with the tyres he began to close in on the leading pack. Within 3 laps he had halved the gap and drizzle set in. Huggins really came alive whilst the competition started to fall back into… Neil’s clutches. Huggins managed to pass 3 of his Gallardo challengers before his mandatory pitstop and by the time all the pitstops had played out Huggins was up into P2 and challenging for P1 and quickest on track. With 10 minutes remaining Huggins was making a concerted effort to overtake the class leader and made several attempts to get down the inside into the corners but the worsening wet weather conditions were making each attempt more precarious as all cars were still on slick tyres. A move into Copse to out brake his opponent cost him in the end and he spun into the gravel. It ended his chance of winning but was able to return to the track to finish the race. Despite the final result, Huggins has definitely been noticed and although this was to be a one off for the year with Blancpain, Huggins has unfinished business….
Ready to go!
Ready to go!
Topcats Racing headed for Silverstone yesterday afternoon for the Blancpain Series with the Lamborghini Super Trofeo which takes place this weekend. It will be driver, Neil Huggins, maiden entry to the series with his new car. He has so far had one chance to learn the car in preparation for this big event by competing in the Britcar Trophy, collecting 2nd and 3rd overall. This will be a much greater challenge and we wish him fun and success this weekend!
First test session has started as this news is published and we will keep you posted this weekend!

We are pleased to finally announce our Saturday Club dates for 2015. There are fewer dates than we had hoped as we have a very busy race calendar this year. In addition to the V8UK Full Power Launch on the 12th April and another event which is under wraps at the moment for 31st May, we are excited to invite you all to the following events:
Saturday Club 9am-1pm : 4th July Topcats Club Silverstone Trackday : Monday 10th August* Saturday Club 9am-1pm : 26th September Saturday Club 9am-1pm : 31st October
Our Saturday Club events will be themed with different, interesting activities and features for visitors.
* our Trackday event will be planned around the input we receive from those that would like to participate and will include drivers own cars on track / fast lap rides / driving our race cars on track / instruction / team support / consensus on amount of track time for drivers depending on costs. At this point we would appreciate your opinion on whether this is something you would be interested in doing and what you would like to do / how you would like to see the day arranged. For those that book and wish to have their cars noise tested and inspected we could arrange this to be done at the Saturday Club event in July or by prior arrangement. More details will be available as we plan them so look out for our updates. We look forward to seeing many of you this year!
Super Trofeo car in Sepang
Accomplished GT racer, Neil Huggins, has taken delivery of a Lamborghini LP560-4 Super Trofeo car from Dusseldorf, Germany to race competitively with the hope for some victories in 2015. A real enthusiast of the marque, Huggins is looking forward to the new challenge. The car will be run by Huggins long-time race partner, Topcats Racing, who have run the driver for many years in their Marcos Mantis GT car in Britcar, GT Cup and several European races as well as Huggins own 1965 TVR Grantura in HSCC.
Well renowned for his exceptional turn of pace on the UK endurance racing scene, Huggins should show well in his debut outing at Silverstone GP circuit in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo on 22-24th May.
Huggins intends to up the ante with his return to the GT Cup and Britcar too with the more technically advanced machine where he is already used to contesting at the head of the field.
Huggins will be putting plenty of miles under his belt in the meantime though with his ‘last hurrah’ in the Marcos Mantis GT car and looking for top honours in the Silverstone Britcar 24hr race from 24-26th April to start the season. The team have also recently announced that they will be running the Mosler MT900R for the 24hr spectacle and currently have drives available.
Making some noise
Topcats Racing held their very first Saturday Club on the 11th October and the place was buzzing with over 50 cars of all makes and models in attendance including a truly beautiful Camaro SS called ‘Bruce’, a MKII Cortina Drag car and a whole host of American and home grown muscle cars including TVR’s, Corvettes, Camaro’s, Aston Martins, Caterhams and Monaro’s to name just a few. We would like to take the opportunity to thank James and Ralph from the V8UK Club who, with so many of their members, helped to make it such a fun morning.
We were pleased to see so many of our own TVR and sports car customers there as well as many new faces who came to enjoy the morning and take advantage of our free vehicle inspections on the day and a delicious bacon roll!
We were thrilled to be joined by Cerbera owner, former QPR player and 2012 Paralympian football star, Alastair Patrick-Hesleton. A man with a tragic but very inspiring story.
The vehicle inspections on both ramps kept Tom and Warren busy all morning while several cars took turns to rev their cars up inside the workshop to be captured on video. The combination of some seriously powerful engines with the acoustics of our workshop made for a truly thunderous soundtrack! A compilation of a whole host of V8 powered cars of all differing sounds can be viewed and heard on our Facebook page and check out this link for some noise!
Topcats Racing took the opportunity to ask for suggestions from their guests for ideas for future Saturday Club events. There will be around 6 events in 2015 to be held throughout the year with dyno days, detailing and valeting workshops, DIY and maintenance, upgrades and accessories all in the pipeline.
Look out for our calendar of events which will be released early next year!
