Hull based modes of transport would have been better to displace the tidal waters that flooded the Brands Hatch circuit at the weekend for the non-championship Britcar GT Open and Sports Car double header race.
Last weekend’s 2 hour endurance race was set to be a real thriller after Winstanley astonishingly qualified 3rd in the Topcats Racing Class 2 Marcos Mantis No. 35 car overall behind the GT2 Ferrari of Bailey/Schultz and the Morcillo/Cintrano Mosler. The crowd would have undoubtedly been treated to a three way battle for the win; Schultz and Morcillo still put on quite a show in the remaining 20 minutes of the race.
An impressive performance from Mick Mercer and Gary Smith in the Production class 1 category assured them another victory at the newly configured Snetterton 300 race circuit. The race was dominated by several safety car periods but the excitement could not be marred as the 2 tiers of the race, British Endurance and Production GTN combined, drew to a close.
Topcats Racing are pleased to confirm and welcome the return of Mick Mercer to the team for 2011, after a year away.
